This book is part of a three-book series. As the first workbook in this companion series, Phonics: Book 1 provides practice and review for both phonemic awareness and alphabet skills. It extends this review into an introduction of phonics as it reinforces the sound-symbol relationships within the alphabet.
This workbook has been designed as a tool for additional practice for students moving into reading. Phonemic awareness and alphabet recognition skills are reinforced as students identify pictures beginning with featured sounds. After reviewing consonant sounds, students will work with both short and long vowel sounds. Blends and digraphs will also be explored. With the support of picture clues, students will use phonics to begin reading.
The ability to read is critical to an effective education.
